Job Description

Our client, a telecom company is seeking an Energy Engineer to support the design, simulation, and evaluation of energy solutions for a wide range of power and renewable energy projects. The role involves performing energy modelling, technical analysis, costing evaluations, and preparing reports to ensure solutions meet customer requirements, technical standards, and commercial objectives.
The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of electrical and renewable energy systems, strong analytical skills, and hands-on experience with energy simulation software.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform energy simulations and technical analyses for solar, hybrid, battery energy storage (BESS), generator, and other energy solutions.
  • Design and evaluate optimized energy solutions based on technical, operational, and financial requirements.
  • Support feasibility studies and energy performance assessments for customer projects.
  • Assist in sizing renewable energy systems and evaluating different technology options.
  • Develop and run energy models using software such as HOMER, PVsyst, and other simulation tools.
  • Analyze system performance, energy production, consumption profiles, and lifecycle costs.
  • Validate simulation outputs and recommend design improvements where required.
  • Prepare technical and financial models to support project proposals and solution selection.
  • Conduct lifecycle cost analysis, ROI calculations, and energy savings evaluations.
  • Support pricing exercises by providing accurate technical inputs and costing assumptions.
  • Collect, validate, and analyze project and site data.
  • Prepare technical reports, energy assessment reports, performance analyses, and customer documentation.
  • Develop dashboards and analytical reports using advanced Excel.
  • Maintain and improve energy modelling templates, simulation tools, and costing databases.
  • Document engineering methodologies and ensure compliance with internal standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Energy Engineering team.
  • Provide technical support to internal departments including Sales, Presales, Projects, and Operations.
  • Assist operating entities with technical evaluations and energy-related requests.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project execution.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Energy Engineering.
  • 1–3 years of experience in energy engineering, renewable energy, or electrical solution design.
  • Experience in solar PV, hybrid power systems, battery storage, or distributed energy solutions is preferred.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and energy systems.
  • Experience with energy simulation software such as:
    • HOMER
    • PVsyst
    • Other energy modelling tools is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Solar PV systems
    • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
    • Diesel generators
    • Hybrid energy solutions
    • Electrical power systems
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, data analysis, financial models).
  • Knowledge of energy costing and techno-commercial evaluations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • The candidate must have proficient English, and fluency in French is mandatory.
